Instructional Designer (Vernon Hills, IL)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and directly assist in all phases of training design and development including analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and evolution.
  • Direct and facilitate working sessions with SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) to identify, develop, and implement learning objectives and outcomes.
  • Conduct front-end and content analysis and lead course design.
  • Assist with the implementation of an online training program.
  • Confirm art/text consistency and proofread all text within Training Department.
  • Aid in the developing of, and managing adherence to, company style guidelines including, terminology, copyright, trademarks, and use of images and materials.
  • Develop expert-level knowledge of company's products and services and of the emergency management industry.
  • Assist with the organization of learning analytics data; must maintain and develop reports for the assessment of customer feedback, trends, and opportunities for new product development targets.
  • Manage complex training projects on time, within budget, while utilizing resources to meet customer expectations.
  • Provide weekly status report to supervisor.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, English, Communications or related coursework preferred.
  • A master's degree is a plus.
  • 6-8 years experience developing training courseware.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of emergency management, military, law enforcement, homeland security, and/or disaster response fields a plus.
  • Ability to convey complex subject matter clearly and engagingly; attention to detail and excellent multitasking skills are imperative.
  • Requires exceptional planning, problem-solving, organizational and communication skills.
  • Independent self-starter with strong teambuilding, critical thinking, and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to communicate and share information, lead and participate in workgroups and project teams, and complete assigned projects successfully and in a timely manner.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and other authoring tools.
  • Skilled in developing graphics using Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, and/or other graphic applications.
  • Ability to travel minimally, as needed.
