Training and Development Specialist (Vernon Hills, IL)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop expert-level knowledge of company's products and services and of the emergency management industry.
  • Conduct large-group instructional seminars and workshops, small-group facilitated workshops, and in-home family-based training.
  • Provide consulting services during corporate and individual sales processes and provide in-home family-based consulting services during the fulfillment phase.
  • Assist in all phases of training design and development including analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and evolution.
  • Work with SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) to identify, develop, and implement learning objectives and outcomes.
  • Assist with the organization of learning analytics data; must maintain and develop reports for the assessment of customer feedback, trends, and opportunities for new product development targets.
  • Assist with the implementation of a company online training program.
  • Manage complex training projects on time, within budget, while utilizing resources to meet customer expectations.
  • Provide weekly status reports to supervisor.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a bachelor's degree in a related field; degree in Training Development and/or Instructional Design a plus.
  • 4-6 years experience developing and delivering training is required.
  • 4-6 years working with individuals and corporations in a training or consulting role.
  • Demonstrate practical hands-on training skills to individuals; experienced in classroom instruction.
  • Knowledge of emergency management, homeland security, and/or disaster response a must.
  • Experience in military, law enforcement, emergency management, or emergency response highly preferred.
  • Must possess exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills to effectively enhance sales process.
  • Strong planning, problem-solving, and exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Independent self-starter with strong public speaking, critical thinking, creative thinking, and operational planning skills.
  • Ability to communicate and share information, participate in workgroups and project teams, and complete projects successfully in a timely manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism with customers, Members, and employees.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and other authoring tools.
  • Skilled at creating simple graphics using Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, and/or other related tools.
  • Ability to travel frequently, as needed.
