Finance Manager (Vernon Hills, IL)

Dynamic, young product distributor and consulting firm seeks a Manager to work in the finance department of a fast paced and rapidly growing organization. Candidate must possess a CPA. Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and perform day-to-day accounting functions.
  • Develop, analyze, and report on statistical and accounting information.
  • Assess operating results, cost centers, performance discrepancies against budget, and other financial performance issues as directed by company's executive management team.
  • Protect assets by establishing and maintaining documented policies, procedures and financial controls for the company. Must take action to ensure compliance with these directives.
  • Provide reporting on business performance.
  • Must identify and drive cost saving opportunities within company.
  • Analyze current processes and recommend and implement procedural or policy changes to improve operations.
  • Provide status of financial condition of the company by collecting, interpreting, and reporting key financial data.
  • Conduct tax planning and preparation to drive minimal tax exposure and guarantee timely filings. Ensure all procedures and filings are in compliance with all international, federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Arrange for audits as required and appropriate.
  • Assist with coordination and preparation of all corporate budgets and financial plans, as well as review all corporate expenditure and cost savings proposals.
  • Participate in hiring process, conduct performance reviews and provide continual feedback on both positive and negative performance.
  • Keep up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
  • Handle highly confidential information with tremendous care and integrity.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; MBA a plus.
  • CPA is required.
  • 5-7 years experience in an accounting function in a start up, small or medium company.
  • Ability to communicate and share information, participate in workgroup and project teams, and complete assigned projects successfully and in a timely manner.
  • Must have an established track record of leadership in a management role along with presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess sound management skills with an ability to issue written and oral instruction, counsel, record, and discipline personnel.
  • Flexibility, problem solving, and exceptional organization and communication skills are necessary for this position.
  • Demonstrate a professional, tactful, "can-do" attitude, and proactively work to accomplish department tasks and assist other company groups/personnel to help ensure that the company as a whole succeeds.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook) skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating, deploying, and utilizing accounting software and other systems required to scale a finance function.
  • Experience within a public company environment and an understanding of external reporting requirements and related internal controls including Sarbanes-Oxleg.
