Emergency Management Specialist (Vernon Hills, IL)

Responsibilities:

The Emergency Management Specialist is responsible for managing the full spectrum of emergency management services including design and development of training materials, and courseware; will conduct risk assessments and write risk management plans and response plans, and will manage and implement consulting engagements for individuals and groups in corporate and in-home settings. A successful Emergency Management Specialist must demonstrate credibility, superior knowledge of emergency management and/or response, have the ability to enhance individual and corporate sales efforts, possess superb public speaking, interpersonal, and written communication skills, and have strong relationship and project management skills.

  • Develop and manage the consulting engagement processes for individuals and businesses.
  • Develop, price, and deliver novel or custom consulting products and services to adapt to the changing market and continually increase revenue.
  • Provide direct consulting services during corporate and individual sales processes and provide in-home family-based consulting services during the fulfillment phase.
  • Conduct large-group instructional seminars and workshops, small-group facilitated workshops, and in-home family-based training.
  • Conduct risk assessments and write risk management plans and response plans.
  • Develop training, educational, and consulting materials using superior knowledge of emergency management.
  • Develop expert-level knowledge of Sovereign Deed's products and services and of the emergency management industry.
  • Assist in all phases of training design and development including analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and evolution.
  • Work with SME's (Subject Matter Experts) to identify, develop, and implement learning objectives and outcomes.
  • Assist with the organization of learning analytics data; must maintain and develop reports for the assessment of customer feedback, trends, and opportunities for new product development targets.
  • Assist with the implementation of an online training program.
  • Manage complex consulting and training projects on time, within budget, meanwhile utilizing resources to meet customer expectations.
  • Provide weekly status reports to supervisor.

Qualifications and Education:

  • Must possess a Bachelors Degree in Emergency Management, Planning, Criminal Justice, Industrial Safety, Public Health, Homeland Security, or related field. Training Development and/or Instructional Design Degree may be considered.
  • Knowledge in field of emergency management, homeland security, and/or disaster response a must.
  • Direct experience in military, law enforcement, emergency management, or emergency response is preferred.
  • 5-7 years working with individuals and corporations in a consulting role is a must.
  • Experience developing and delivering training is preferred.
  • Professional certificate (CEM, ABCP, etc) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Incident Command Systems (ICS), National Response Plan (NRP), and the National Incident Management System (NIMS) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems is preferred.
  • Possess strong knowledge of consulting processes.
  • Excellent client/relationship management skills and high degree of professionalism
  • Demonstrate practical hands-on training skills to individuals, and have previous classroom or group instruction experience.
  • Must possess exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills to effectively enhance sales process.
  • Requires strong planning, problem-solving, and exceptional organization and communication skills.
  • Independent self-starter with strong public speaking, critical thinking, creative thinking, and operational planning skills.
  • Ability to communicate and share information, participate in workgroups and project teams, and complete assigned projects successfully and in a timely manner.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project) skills.
  • Ability to develop simple graphics using Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, and/or other related tools.
  • Must have ability to travel frequently, up to 70%
